Service Description

Whether you've never thrown on the wheel before or just fancy challenging yourself to produce something new. In this two hour creative workshop you will successfully learn how to thrown a ramen bowl with our head potter, Mathew Dimbleby. You will begin by learning how to centre the clay on the wheel and how to produce cylinders of even forms and thickness. This will then progress on to learning how to develop these forms in to a bowl, perfect for eating ramen out of! Once you have achieved the correct shape and are happy with what you have produced, it will be time to get the paint brushes out to decorate your bowl with underglaze colour whilst the clay is still wet. Your final step in getting creative. Post lesson your bowl will be dried out in our studio before going through a double firing process. The first firing process is the biscuit firing to 1000oc before being glazed with a food safe, lead-free glaze and fired again to 1120oc. Your bowl will be ready to collect in approximately 2-3 weeks after your lesson. This class usually runs once a month on a Tuesday evening 6pm to 8pm and Thursday 2:30pm to 4:30pm, however if you are interested in this class and can't make it on the dates available, please contact us via sales@dimblebyceramics.co.uk or ring us on 07900582268 and we will try our best to accommodate you.
