Service Description

Throw and decorate a bubble vase, in this workshop lead by our head potter, Mathew Dimbleby. This class is perfect for those who have completed our beginner's course or have had previous experience throwing on the wheel. In this three hour workshop you will learn all the skills required to gain confidence and apply the skills to produce a bubble vase. You will then use your hands as well as wooden throwing tools to create the bubbles in the cylinder wall, which can be tricky and technically hard. Once you have achieved the correct shape and are happy with what you have produced, it will be time to get the paint brushes out to decorate your vase with underglaze colour. This is your final step in getting creative. Post lesson the vase will be dried out in our studio before going through a double firing process. The first firing process is the biscuit firing to 1000oc before being glazed with a food safe, lead-free glaze and fired again to 1120oc. Your vase will be ready to collect in approximately 2-3 weeks after your lesson. This class runs twice a month on a Tuesday afternoon 1pm to 4pm or Thursday morning 10am to 1pm.
