Throw a Jug with handle

Intermediate

Service Description

Throw and decorate your own tall jug with handle, in this workshop lead by our head potter, Mathew Dimbleby. This class is perfect for those who have completed our beginner's course or have had previous experience throwing on the wheel. In this three hour workshop you will learn how to throw a tall jug body then learning how to pull, or roll handles which can then be formed and attached to the jug body. Making jugs is all about timing, ensuring that both the jug body and handle are of similar moisture content prior to joining the handle to the jug body. Once you have achieved the correct shape and are happy with what you have produced, it will be time to get the paint brushes out to decorate your mug with underglaze colour. This is your final step in getting creative. Post lesson the jug/s will be dried out in our studio before going through a double firing process. The first firing process is the biscuit firing to 1000oc before being glazed with a food safe, lead-free glaze and fired again to 1120oc. Your jug/s will be ready to collect in approximately 2-3 weeks after your lesson. This class runs twice a month on a Tuesday afternoon 1pm to 4pm or Thursday morning 10am to 1pm. However, if you are interested in this class and can't make it on the dates available, please contact us via sales@dimblebyceramics.co.uk or ring us on 07900582268 and we will try our best to accommodate you.
